Navara Payasam
Ingredients
- Navara rice-1 cup (200gms)
- Jaggery/brown sugar-1/2 cup (100gms)
- Milk-1 cup (200ml)
- Cardamom-2 gms
- Cashew-10 nos
- Ghee-2 tablespoons
- Water-4 cups (800ml)
Method
- Rinse and soak the rice for 15 minutes
- Grind it coarsely
- In a clay pot, add this rice mixture
- Add water (1 cup rice mix means 5 cups of water. You can add 4 cups of water and 1 cup of milk) and cook the mixture.
- Let it cool for 15 minutes
- Now add jaggery or brown sugar
- Check the sweetness and add milk.
- Add cardamom powder
- Fry the cashews and chironji seeds in ghee
- Add this fried nuts and coconut to payasam.
- Yummy delicious payasam is ready
Tip: Instead of milk, you can add coconut milk but make sure to prepare it in a heavy bottomed pan or kadai.
