Recipes using Muttakar Rice

Muttakar Aapam


  • Muttakar rice- 1 cup (200g)
  • Urad dal- 2 Tbsp
  • Fenugreek – 1/2 tsp
  • Grated coconut- 1/2 cup
  • Salt- 1/2 tsp
  • Baking soda- 1/2 tsp


Soak rice, dal and fenugreek for 4 hours and blend. Then add grated coconut and blend finely. Mix the flour and baking soda with it. Pour 3 table spoons of flour in a pan and add half tumbler of water, turn on the stove and saute until it becomes thick. Then allow it to cool for sometime and then blend in a mixer and add to the previously prepared dough. Leave the dough to ferment for 8 hours. Before making aapam add tender coconut water and prepare aapam in the aapam maker.
